WordPress vs Squarespace

Introduction

If you’re building a website, you have a lot of options. There are plenty of content management systems out there to choose from, and each one has different features and benefits. If you’ve been following our blog for some time now, then you know that I’m a big fan of WordPress. But what about Squarespace and Wix? Let’s take a look at these options and see which one might be best for your needs!

How do I choose between WordPress and Squarespace?

While you can get a Squarespace website for free, you’ll have a monthly payment if you want to keep the site up after the trial period. With WordPress, there are no fees beyond your hosting service (usually something like $10-20/month).

So what’s the difference in functionality? Squarespace is best for websites with simple layouts and very little customization. They have templates that allow users to choose colors and fonts, but they’re not really geared toward people who know how to code or want complete control of their site.

WordPress has better content management systems than Squarespace—meaning it’s easier for users with less technical knowledge to post content—but it also comes with several plugins that allow you more control over how your website looks and behaves (and these plugins can be expensive).

What about Wix?

Wix is a good choice if you want to build your website without writing code. It’s easy to use, offers a free basic plan, and has a free trial period. Wix also has an app for both Android and iOS devices, as well as an online store that lets you sell products directly from your site.

What about other options like Weebly?

You might want to consider Weebly if you’re looking for a simple website or even just a blog. It’s easy to use, and free templates may be enough for some people. But if you need something with more features and customization options, WordPress is the way to go.

If you do decide to go with Weebly, it does have its benefits over Squarespace in terms of flexibility and price point:

  • You can choose from a variety of templates on their site instead of having everything pre-built into their platform (though they do have several nice themes).
  • You can customize your site at any time by editing the code yourself using HTML/CSS (which requires some technical know-how). This allows you to get exactly what you want without paying someone else extra money every month just so they can make small changes for less than $100 per hour.

WordPress has been around for over 20 years and is still the top choice for bloggers and small businesses. Squarespace is a close second option with Weebly coming in third, although it’s not as easy to find reliable information about their customer service practices. Wix is a distant fourth but also worth considering due to its ease of use and price point if you don’t need advanced features such as eCommerce integrations or custom domain names.

Conclusion

With so many options to choose from, it can be difficult to decide which platform is right for you. The best thing you can do is compare the features of each platform and think about what matters most to you. For example, if you want an easy way to create beautiful websites without having any coding knowledge then Squarespace might be a good choice because it has an intuitive drag-and-drop interface that makes building sites fun while WordPress has built-in themes, but they may not be as customizable as Squarespace’s designs.
